Fund the CSIRO ship RV Investigator

Fund the CSIRO ship RV Investigator

Through the National Marine Science Committee, fund the operation of the RV Investigator, for ongoing marine research. Part of the funding should result in an annual report back to guide the operations of the Wind Turbine Farm.

Points

Scientific monitoring of the impacts of the offshore wind farms, both positive and negative, is essential if we are to establish and maintain the best possible renewable energy industry and appropriate development of this industry and to respond to any marine environment changes. Modifications to the industry can then be made in response to this scientific evidence.

STEM is well documented as being vital for our future. Add A for analysis, (English and Humanities courses), to create STEAM. Sophisticated data can then be carefully analysed to create sound initiatives. Local universities, TAFFE colleges and secondary schools have an opportunity to develop curriculum which reflects renewable energy sources and allied industries. These local programs will entice young people and those who wish to re-skill or up-skill to remain in the region.

Funding marine research is vital
