How does this impact on Community Wellbeing? Thank you for your comments. The Local Government and Communities Committee at the Scottish Parliament is made up of MSPs from various political parties and we want to discuss what we should look into to ensure our communities have good wellbeing. Our rules require discussions to be on this topic specifically. Please amend your submission. Original post: Promote and stand up for our freedoms a lot more Many people have noticed that our right to freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of religion (especially in the Christian sector) is being increasingly taken away. When people lose their right to speak freely, therefore there is no hope for a nation and it’s inhabitants. Our right to travel (mainly drive) freely is being restricted too under the disguise of ‘we have to save the planet’. When oppression arrives on our doorsteps, is it any wonder that the well-being of the people becomes more miserable when restricted? Why should the Committee focus on this as part of their future work? When we elect our representatives to government, we do so with the full expectation that they will stand up for our rights. Unfortunately, there is an increasing trend where our rights are not being respected at all. Thus if we are to say that we are a free country and not an oppressive state, the government must live up to standing up for our freedoms and how we are grateful for them. Otherwise, the idea of less government in our lives becomes more valuable.
