Volunteering in Local Communities supported by employers

How does this impact on Community Wellbeing? I believe that to generate greater community wellbeing that people employed should receive 1hr paid leave on a weekly basis to undertake some volunteering in their local community (whether that is collecting litter, undertaking gardening for the elderly, delivering a sports club sessions or such like. I have seen firsthand how this sort of incentive can strengthen local communities and integrate people more positively. The RAF are a prime example of this as their staff used to be permitted leave every week to get involved in their local communities this resulted in strong community groups being built due to the volume of volunteers. A rewarding experience and also could help employers as staff would feel positive about their volunteering and generosity for great causes. Why should the Committee focus on this as part of their future work? Motivational tool for staff, encourage staff to get involved in communities as part of their working week. Develop relationships within communities as people are very reserved and reluctant to get involved in activities/groups nowadays
