How does this impact on Community Wellbeing? Keeping Scotland clean and tidy encourages people to get out and use them promoting health and well being. Areas for children and families to enjoy free from litter and health risks has a long term positive impact. This also promotes civic pride. Why should the Committee focus on this as part of their future work? Long term health and mental well being strong sense of community.
As long as "tidy" is not used to mean "strimmed to a smouldering stump", wiping out every last refuge for the invertebrates which support all other life...
WLC recently started charging for uplifts, since then, fly tipping has become a MASSIVE issue, people on benefits can NOT afford payment for removal of large items, many dump them. ervices for cleaning up areas have reduced drastically, myself and my partner litter pick, what does our council tax pay for ? We need a HUGE campaign on the issue of littering, fly tipping etc, we MUST respect the areas in which we live, and the wildlife using it,litter is bad for wildlife,us and the environment
It never ceases to amaze me how much litter is on the road edges of both rural and A roads in Scotland. People chuck rubbish from cars and fly tip because they can and there is little or not consequence. Then the council, in their non-wisdom, decided to mow a road edge shattering plastic bottles, cans and other debris into a million pieces. Surely, something can be done?
