Limit traffic

Limit traffic

How does this impact on Community Wellbeing? Limit fossil fuel burning traffic from using town and village centres. Ensure places with heavy footfall during the week and particularly at weekends gives priority to pedestrians and green modes of transport. Encourage local farmer markets and open areas to local trade that would otherwise be used by traffic. Why should the Committee focus on this as part of their future work? Encourages growth of local trade and greater footfall of local populace to town centres.

Points

Improves health and wellness of citizens. Makes shopping a more pleasurable experience. Give town and city centres back to pedestrians

Fantastic idea, reduces severance of communities, promotes community engagement and interaction. Improves footfall to local shops and services, reduces road noise and risk to pedestrians for part of the day and improves air quality. Regular events like this could expand into community engagement days, with opportunities for local councils to make the public aware of significant local events or planning matters taking place. Excellent suggestion that deserves a lot of support.
