Tackle the issue of Fatherless children.

Tackle the issue of Fatherless children.

How does this impact on Community Wellbeing? Studies show that fatherless children are significantly more likely to commit crime, to suffer from drug and alcohol abuse, to be subject to teenage pregnancy, to end up in care, to suffer from mental health disorders depression and self harming, to be a disruptive influence in the education system, the health system, policing and courts and end up being a significant net cost to society a drain on resources and a disruptive influence on society cohesion. The issue has many government imposed barriers in place which make it difficult for fathers to parent their children and is currently actively working to create fatherless children through Parental Alienation. What can the committee do to assist in resolving this issue along side the current review of the Childrens (Scotland) Bill currently taking evidence at the Scottish Justice committee. These good people are doing their best but all arms of government need to recognise the problem and do all they can to fix this horror show. Why should the Committee focus on this as part of their future work? The damage done to society stemming from this issues is vast and a significant drain on national and local government resources. Part of the issue is being discussed in the Justice Committee see the link below but progress is very slow and every government department needs to get behind this issue. There is a danger that the Justice committee does not understand the issue properly and make the necessary change. https://www.scottishparliament.tv/meeting/justice-committee-january-14-2020
