Better decision making processes

Better decision making processes

How does this impact on Community Wellbeing? Modern life is beset by many complex and pressing challenges. Just skim through the list of topics on this site. Our decision making processes based on political party allegiance and voting is too slow and produces poor quality decisions. There are many better processes - citizens' assemblies, dialogue (as opposed to win/lose debate), Open Space. Increasing use of better processes will lead to better outcomes. Why should the Committee focus on this as part of their future work? Working on the processes will improve the quality of decision making in all the areas the committee wants to address. Thinking doesn't cost much compared with building facilities and hiring staff (and making mistakes!) and repays the investment over and over again.
