How does this impact on Community Wellbeing? Developing a health and well-being shop in high streets where people can pop in for advice and signposting. Using empty retail units the service could support national and local initiatives. It could also have workshops on a range of issues eg healthy cooking on a budget, getting more active, managing chronic illness and and mini self help treatment/ counselling sessions. It could be a hub for community walks, cycling, yoga, meditation. This would take well-being out of the medical model and promote health and well-being as a community asset. Using a volunteer model would be worth exploring or making its part of health visitors job description where they dedicate half a day a month to ‘manning the shop’ Why should the Committee focus on this as part of their future work? To potentially reach lots of people without huge costs
Makes total sense. There is a lack of community space on High St's. Benefits all round
