What change do you want to make now to address the climate change crisis? One change we want to make is to stop using plastic bags due to the amount that end up in landfill. What do you need to make this change? "I want supermarkets to stop selling plastic bags. This would force people to bring their own bags or buy canvas bags and help them to remember to bring their own next time."
The coop currently sell bags that are "compostable" and break down in 12 weeks in the right conditions (presumably a compost bin) because they are a plastic made from biological methods instead of petrochemical methods. I'd love to see a big switch to something like this as well as quicker moves towards reuseable canvas and cloth bags. Something like within the year complete phasing out of petrochemical plastic bags would be nice. Would reduce the reliance on the plastics and oil industries.
