What change do you want to make now to address the climate change crisis? Different approach to housing should found to prevent unsustainable movement of people out of the city. I believe that huge amount of AirBnBs suggests that there is space for everyone to live within the city boundaries and avoid emitting carbon while commuting for work/leisure. What do you need to make this change? a different Council housing strategy, regulations from the Parliament ?
Remote neighbourhoods forces people to drive everywhere
Reduce need for commuter travel. No STL/STR's improves numbers of houses for everyone.
Building these neighbourhoods just creates large areas of population with people reliant on cars. We've seen the huge suburbs in the USA - they absolutely do not work. If new areas are built they need to be effectively linked to high-quality public transport and active travel networks, be higher density and have local shops. The "15 minute city" that Paris is championing right now is what we should be doing - no-one should be more than a 15 minute walk from all necessary amenities.
