recyclable materials for single use products

recyclable materials for single use products

What change do you want to make now to address the climate change crisis? Move towards recycled materials for every day single use products. Give us more space/bigger recycling bins to deal with these. OR encourage home composting - which in turn could generate our own gas to use in the home. Is that how that works?! 🤷🏼‍♂️ What do you need to make this change? Invest heavily in recyclable materials for single use. OR materials for multi-use that used to be single use. Incentivise big companies to move to recycled/biodegradable packaging. Another approach, encourage home growing of fruit and veg but again, invest in this to make it easy for everyone. Have people in communities that grow for the rest of the community at a small cost and only for direct to customer sales. OR government subsidies free fruit/veg provided this way.

Points

How about more use of high quality paper for packaging, can go in composting facilities at home or community. But we dont want plastics and toxins getting into our compost.

We must reduce our consumption of single-use materials, particularly plastics. Some changes could be made reasonably easily, e.g. go back to aluminium for toothpaste tubes.

Biodegradable materials ca actually be worse for the environment - releasing more greenhouse gases when they degrade

For the obvious reason that we are drowning in a sea of plastic.
