Better Urban Path Networks

Better Urban Path Networks

What change do you want to make now to address the climate change crisis? Better path networks connecting parts of towns across Scotland. Every housing estate should have a path and cycle network to the town centre, the leisure centre, the library and the public transport access points. Stop allowing new housing development to put up fences and walls between them and existing houses. Connections needed. What do you need to make this change? Legislation

Points

Great idea, people should be able to wlak about their local neighbourhoods on high quality paths

Most journeys are local, and could be made by bike or on foot. This would reduce car dependency and help people get more exercise which would reduce the levels of obesity and generally help achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Only with safe, connected cycling infrastructure will people choose to leave the car at home and cycle for everyday journeys.

a network of high quality and safe cycle and walking paths would enable more people to actually walk and cycle. that's been proven to be the case in lots of other places around the globe, so i don't see why it wouldn't work here. great idea! that way people could do something for their own health and for the planet. it's a win-win!

A comprehensive network of safe cycling facilities will enable those who would like to cycle but are understandably scared by motor vehicles to cycle, thus improving their health and reducing carbon emitions. Currently developers build piecemeal developments with little regard to how they are embedded into the local community to enable active travel. This must change and national government would seem to be best placed to enforce this change.
