make dynamo lights commonplace on bikes in UK

What change do you want to make now to address the climate change crisis? Dynamo powered lights are commonplace in countries with higher populations of people cycling as a mode of transport. The functionality and ease of use means people do not need to worry about charging lights as they are fitted to the bike as standard. It would increase accessibility of cycling to more people. Ofcourse this would not on its own increase cycling, but key design features like this that increase the functionality of the bicycle make it a more attractive option as a transport mode. What do you need to make this change? Policy led from scottish government would encourage bike manufacturers to include dynamos as standard on city/hybrid bikes.

Points

There are already bicycles with dynamo lights available in the UK, there isn't much market for that. In the Netherlands dynamo lights are used because most of their bicycles are old, and the newer models too are a reflection of that style. And in Germany for instance it is slightly more popular than in the UK because there is a market for that. Bicycle lights are not a barrier to cycling - but busy roads, daft overtaking and fast moving traffic definitely is.
