The Panel heard about the Economy, Energy and Fair Work Committee's work about the impact of COVID-19 on young people and their ability to find and keep work. The Scottish Government should focus on how we support Young People to participate in the post-pandemic economy.
The economy cannot guarantee that companies who offer Modern Apprenticeships and other vocational training (VQ's etc) will be able to stay in business in the changed economy post Brexit and post Covid. Youngsters may well find that they are unable to gain placements. or face travel restrictions to access opportunities. More work experience with support is needed. Understanding of bias imposed on lack of "exam" based outcomes.
THE European Commission is to explore ways for Scotland and Wales to stay in the Erasmus student exchange programme. The Scottish Government should support this programme.
