The Scottish Government should look into having a standardised approach in regards to virtual learning rolled out across all local authorities.
I would not like to see schools steam rollered into having to all do the same thing and become rigid, but that there should be access to ready made e-learning material for teachers to provide to their pupils (at all stages of age and the curriculum). Teachers do not have time to teach in the classroom and design and produce modules for e-learning. There are many companies that develop e-learning material that could take on this work and could be activated rapidly.
This seems to run counter to Scottish Education philosophy as there is no statutory national curriculum. All local authority schools follow agreed guidelines. Education Scotland and the GTC have already produced guidelines for on-line learning.
