Engagement with people currently on furlough

Engagement with people currently on furlough

The Scottish Parliament should engage with people who work in industries currently impacted by furlough such as events and hospitality to find ways of strengthening industries post-pandemic or supporting workers to be redeployed or reskilled to work in other sectors.

Leith Theatre closed at the end of March last year. Edinburgh international Festival normally has a programme launch in March for the August Festival. Likewise with the Fringe. Realistically, are we looking to 2022 before venues start taking bookings and Festival organisers start programming events? In the meantime, the Government needs to continue to support cultural organisation sand venues and recognise that this support may need to continue for longer than other sectors.
