The Pandemic has well illustrated the differences in society and the challenges for some people to get an income adequate to provide basic means. A universal basic income would mitigage the needs for means testing and there would be no problems with delays in getting money and some people falling through the gap. Pilot testing this in some regions.
Agree with the worth in piloting / further research with a Scottish context. Would need to be sufficiently long-term to see the full benefits - a fixed-time pilot won't necessarily encourage people to take the leaps that it is anticipated permanent UBI would.
