Sex is a protected characteristic and no one should be allowed to identify as the opposite sex in prison. No matter what their offence, prisoners should be protected from physical and sexual violence during their term. Regardless if a prisoner is gay, trans or a woman, they have the right to safety, privacy and dignity. Trans people are particularly vulnerable and may need specialist provision. However, this should not involve persons with full male genitalia being housed in women’s prisons Any adult human male with intact male genitalia and/or a violence or sex record MUST stay out of women’s prisons. It’s unsafe.
