poverty and problem debt

poverty and problem debt

COVID has disporpotionately impacted those living in poverty. Many people have been pushed into debt but an unexpected drop in income, either through a 20% drop while being in furlough or being made redundant and having to move on to the Universal Credit system. We need to make sure that these key issues are part of any decision making around our recovery. Listening to people with lived experience and including them in decision making. The Scottish Child Payment is a great addition but more is needed. We need robust policies in place that protect people from creditors while also making sure that they have enough money to live on.
