Owners of small plots of land in the city should be incentivised by the council to convert these spaces into community gardens or alotments for the neighbourhood to use to grow food, gather, and promote biodiversity. Squeezing housing development projects into tiny lanes with limited access in a desperate cash grab will not benefit the neighbourhood and will ruin many of the surrounding properties. The profits of landowners and housing companies should not come before the needs of the local people and animals.
