See ourseas.scot for more information and a petition. Restore the 3 mile restrictions for inshore commercial trawlers that was repealed by Thatcher. Fife and coastal ecosystems have suffered massively due to this repeal over the past decades. For concerns on offshore fishing during this time they could possibly be managed by a zoning policy allowing fish populations to recover in selected areas. Canada's cod fishing ban had great success as fish stocks recovered over a period of ten years. Something similar in Scotland would be beneficial for our coastal ecosystems and in the long term for the fishing industry as well.
