help increase the diagnosis rate of autism in girls

In spite of girls making up half the Scottish population, they are far less likely to be diagnosed as autistic. As a person suspected to be autistic (which I feel that i very likely have), I have waited for a diagnosis for about four years. In that time, many more young men have been diagnosed and have found ways to cope and deal with it that can be helped and excused in academia and workplace settings. I, however, have no such help in place and I feel that I would not be alone in saying that. While likely due to the fact that autism presents differently in both genders, people shpuld be able to take note and understand the differences. Autistic women such as muself should not have to have our traits compared to those of men and have our diagnosis based on how masculine our traits present themselves as.
