When companies are owned by their employees, the business remains in Scotland and decisions are made with the interests of local people in mind. Employee-owned business have continually been shown to be more sustainably successful, with higher resilience, better levels of engagement and improved productivity and profitability. Wealth created is shared by the employees who create it. Increasing the number of employee-owned businesses in Scotland must be a priority in our economic strategy, with real support for businesses looking to adopt employee ownership structures.
