Preserve historic built heritage

In areas of outstanding architectural heritage (eg City of Edinburgh) tougher planning laws are needed to prevent the construction of buildings that clash with the vernacular style. In the case of Edinburgh, this can threaten world heritage status. In Glasgow, many historic buildings are left to decay. Councils should be required to repair and conserve them.
