There are sizable community languages in Scotland but transmission to the next generation and literacy is not always guaranteed. This is an unnecessary loss of linguistic skills that would benefit the Scottish economy and wider society and avoid a loss of intergenerational communcation (where young people raised here lack full command of their parents' language). The success of immersion (such as Gaelic) could be easily replicated with a similar bilingual (English + 1) model in areas where there are significant numbers of speakers, fro example as Polish, Cantonese, Hindi, Urdu, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, etc.
