People accessing mental health care and support often have to wait in limbo on waiting lists spanning months to years. This delay can be the difference between life and death for some. People with low income cannot afford to access private or independent services while they wait for NHS availability. Of course better funded NHS services should be prioritised to reduce waiting lists. However, until this is a reality, more needs to be done for people suffering. There should be a scheme to partially or fully fund mental health care elsewhere until an NHS space is available for them.
