Internet access is a necessity for everyone due to education, employment and involvement with support services often relying on it. All households should have access to a minimum speed and bandwidth that allows all these activities to run smoothly. A publically owned company would keep costs down and ensure better maintenance and prioritisation of rectifying issues than private providers. People could also choose to pay for upgraded speeds as they do with internet packages currently if the minimum is not enough for the personal needs. However, ensuring some level of reliable broadband and internet access for people to learn, work and access services as necessary should be a government priority.
