In her expert evidence to the Irish Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health (May 2021), Orla Hegarty proposed "a ‘third way’ that steers a scientific course between lockdown and uncontrolled spread". This approach recognises that vaccines alone will be insufficient to end the pandemic and focuses on a more preventative approach by addressing buildings & indoor air conditions.
