Localised community involvement leads to national engagement

Do you think more localised community involvement by politicians and communities would help more people get involved nationally? Cristina – Yes, definitely – that’s the way to address it. Local communities know what they need. Establish connections and we can do that better if we are talking about the environment they live in, that is relevant to them. And must involve local MSPs to ensure impact. Workshops, focus groups etc that connect local issues to the national work of Parliament.

Points

people tend to see what is local to them, when I pass the same overflowing bin every day, I notice it more than something on the news. If I see that local involvement gets results, I am more likely to engage at another level.
