Look at the school curriculum to ensure pupils can engage

Schools could play a bigger part in educating people about democracy and the role of Parliament and how people can take part in the work of Parliament. There should be something in the national curriculum that includes life skills and also the constitution and citizenship This is linked to the inquiry finding that: Education has a vital role to play in the breaking down barriers to participation in the democratic process.

Points

Pupils need to be educated in the polices of all political parties to give a realistic knowledge of politics

Recognising that this would be a long term investment and may not show immediate results but the end result would be a more engaged citizenry. Could be rolled out with broader life skills like first aid and budgetting to reduce the perception of it being political and these skills have merit in their own right.
