Some participants felt that initial inquiry finding that "people don't feel represented in the Parliament" was " general in its scope and a bit ambiguous in respect of the degree of non representation. Is the finding statistically significant to merit as a finding of value? How many people are actually satisfied with their dealings with their representatives as to those dissatisfied?" Others have noted that more research should be done into the level of understanding the public have around the difference between Parliament and Government. If people knew that Parliament was an independent institution here to represent the people of Scotland, pass laws and hold the Government and public bodies to account, they would be more likely to engage.
