Are waiting list times bring fiddled by a deliberate delay in being added to them? This makes it look as though target times are being met when they are not. For example, i am awaiting an operation which im told should be within 4-6 weeks. 5 weeks after being verbally told i would be added I have recieved a letter to say i am now on the list. My waiting time will be outside the expected waiting time but on paper it will probably look like a success as 5 weeks were wasted in the interem. This may make little difference in some cases but when awaiting an operation for cancer removal, every week increases the risk of it spreading, not to mention the turmoil. My point is - honesty - stop using administrative delays to show youre meeting targets that you are not.
