Once for NHS Scotland - Adopting a Remote and Rural Lens

Within NHS Scotland, taking a Once for Scotland approach that accounts for a remote and rural dimension could minimise any disadvantage experienced by services in remote and rural areas and improve infrastructure and support. e.g. have unified HR provision that equally meets needs in remote areas as much as urban areas. There is much more to be done to deliver a ‘once for scotland’ approach. Internal systems require resilience and improved functionality to enable cross board patient information sharing – that matches how patients from remote and rural areas access healthcare services in other board areas. Primary care and secondary care systems don’t connect and sharing patient information across and between boards requires improvement.
