NHS Boards Agility to Respond to Scottish Government

NHS Boards Agility to Respond to Scottish Government

Ability to respond agilely to SG requests can be particularly challenging for small health boards. It can be difficult to pull together a bid, and the reporting can be disproportionate for the amount of funding. This results in people in remote and rural areas not benefiting because we haven't got the capacity to pull a bid together. (particularly an issue when SG has money close to end of financial year and wants a fast turn round). SG performance demands – requests require extensive infrastructure and assume a critical mass of people to service needs. For example drugs & alcohol reporting – multiple requests for reporting but with only small teams in Boards they comply with reporting requirements at the detriment of providing the service.
