Clinical Priorities Health conditions list

Clinical Priorities Health conditions list

The Scottish Government has adopted a series of clinical priorities with a large team of civil servants tasked with supporting policy and delivery on these. The priorities include cancer, diabetes, respiratory, heart disease & stroke, neurological conditions, endometriosis and chronic pain. However one of the biggest areas of concern to the NHS is chronic kidney disease (CKD) which affects more people than cancer and, through the increasing numbers needing dialysis and transplantation, is one of the fastest growing costs to the NHS.It is an area where prioritising diagnosis and treatment would make a huge difference.CKD is not a clinical priority and requests by Kidney Research UK for CKD to be added to the list have been turned down How do you choose the criteria for clinical priorities?
