The centralised redesign of health services for Skye, involving the removal of all basic primary care from Portee, the main population centre and one of the world's major tourist destinations, is in clear breach of Scottish Government's satutory requirments. It has very clear and serious public safety risks and has massive social cost implications for the Skye community. Sir Lewis Ritchie's report offered NHSH a mitigatory escape clause. None of the key recommendations of Sir Lewis's report as they relate to North Skye have been implemented 5 years on despite repeated written and verbal assurances from NHSH and SG..
