Long Covid funding and frontline services?

Long Covid funding and frontline services?

Why has so little LC funding been directed to assisting patients through frontline services. For example, recent funding of £3m has been divided amongst all 14 health boards. The largest area (Glasgow) received nearly £600,000 but this is around half of what Chest Heart and Stroke have received to deliver a telephone advice line. The original pledge of £10m over 3 years was made 2+ years ago (when patient numbers were 50% lower/ pre-COL crisis) yet money was not made available to health boards until this year. Scotland already has one of the worst life expectancy rates in Europe and ignoring LC will only exacerbate this. Without early medical intervention the outcomes for patients (including children) and society (loss of productivity, cost of care/ benefits, etc.) will only worsen.
