My daughter is adopted and she meets every single marker for FASD but we don't have the documentary evidence confirming that birth mum drank during pregnancy. We do have evidence of birth mum having drunk on other pregnancies. Why is this not enough? There are so many hoops that you have to go through to get a diagnosis of FASD and I understand it needs to be a multi-disiplinary decision, but where there is such compelling evidence why is it made so difficult for adoptive parents to be able to get their child the support and diagnosis that they need.
