FASD affects >3% of the population, and is the most common cause of neurodevelopmental disorders.(approx 200,000 people) International evidence shows that : Prevention of alcohol affected pregnancies, Early Identification and timely support to those affected ensures , most importantly, benefit to those affected, and avoidance of additional trauma, but also economically benefits society. Australia,Canada, and N.Zealand are already showing the benefits of increased early investment. In Scotland we have the opportunity with the Preconception framework the National ND Assessment Pathway the review of the Learning Disability Autism and Neurodiversity Bill to make a difference. But more funding is needed for training and assessments. Will Ministers prioritise increased funding ?
